dina045850
The Australian Government has announced a 4.6% increase in income thresholds for several skilled visa categories, effective from 1 July 2025. This change is part of ongoing efforts to ensure skilled migration programs align with current labour market conditions and wage growth across priority sectors.
Key Updates at a Glance:
🔹 Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT)
The CSIT will rise from AUD73,150 to AUD76,515. This threshold applies to nomination applications under the Core Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa and the Employer Nomination Scheme.
🔹 Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT)
The SSIT will increase from AUD135,000 to AUD141,210, impacting nominations under the Specialist Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa.
🔹 Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT)
The TSMIT—used for regional employer-sponsored visa pathways—will also rise from AUD73,150 to AUD76,515, aligning with the new CSIT level. This change is subject to the passage of supporting legislation.
What This Means for Applicants and Employers
These updated thresholds will affect new nomination applications lodged on or after 1 July 2025. They do not apply to existing visa holders or nominations submitted prior to that date. Employers sponsoring overseas workers will need to meet the revised salary benchmarks, ensuring foreign workers are paid appropriately and competitively.
The changes reflect Australia’s commitment to attracting high-calibre talent while protecting local labour standards.
For skilled professionals considering a move to Australia — and for sponsoring employers — now is the time to reassess eligibility and ensure future applications meet the updated requirements.
