Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) has updated its Applicant Guidelines to protect your personal information when submitting documents for skills assessments. This is especially relevant for skilled migrants lodging applications under TRA pathways.
TRA is now urging all applicants and their authorised representatives to remove or cover up any sensitive details—particularly Tax File Numbers (TFNs) and unnecessary bank information—before submitting supporting documents.
✅ What’s the New Requirement?
TRA has made it clear that:
- ❌ TFNs must not be included in any documents (e.g., payslips, tax statements)
- ❌ Bank account details not relevant to employment verification should be removed
- ✅ Only essential employment and qualification documents should be submitted
- ✅ Bank statements should show salary deposits only, with all unrelated transactions covered
⚖️ Why This Is Important
TRA is not authorised to collect or store TFNs under the Taxation Administration Act 1953 and the Privacy (TFN) Rule 2015. Providing unnecessary sensitive information may breach privacy laws and cause delays in your application.
Submitting incorrect documents may lead to:
